Frequently Asked Questions
What is a naturopathic doctor (ND)?
A naturopathic doctor is a licensed healthcare provider trained in both conventional and natural medicine, focusing on prevention, holistic care, and the body’s ability to heal itself using nutrition, lifestyle changes, herbal medicine, and more.
Services provided may differ from state to state based on scope of practice.
Do you work with other healthcare providers?
Yes. I often collaborate with primary care physicians, specialists, and other health professionals to ensure coordinated and comprehensive care for my patients. This includes referring to other specialists when needed or ordering diagnostic imaging procedures.
Do you offer virtual appointments?
Yes. Telehealth appointments are available for both new and returning patients, making it easier to access care from the comfort of your home.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes - Dr. Rowe is in network with the following healthcare plans:
Aetna
Anthem/Blue Cross Blue Shield
Cigna
Community Health Options
Harvard Pilgrim
United Healthcare
Manhattan Life
Coverage may vary based on each patients individual plan including copays and deductibles.
Do you prescribe medications?
Sometimes - Medications can provide a therapeutic benefit in a way other supplements and herbs may not. They are considered higher level interventions. After a thorough conversation, if an individual needs a prescription Dr. Rowe may find an appropriate option, such as prescribing within scope in Maine.
How do lab tests work with naturopathic care?
Dr. Rowe uses both conventional and functional lab testing to assess health markers. Many labs can be ordered and filled through local clinics or mailed to your home, depending on the test.
Can you be my Primary Care Provider (PCP)?
In most states naturopathic doctors are considered specialists. Although services provided may be the same as your routine PCP, for billing purposes all visits must be billed as specialist visits.
